Oregon's Equal Pay Act: Why is it important and what do you need to know?

Updated: Oct 3, 2018

In 2017, Oregon passed the Equal Pay Act.  This Act greatly expanded Oregon’s existing pay equity law to include an unprecedented ten protected classes and a prohibition on asking about applicants’ pay history.  It also provides new remedies and damages for employees, which will take effect on January 1, 2019.  Are you, your employment forms, and your job salary setting methods in compliance with one of the most expansive new pay equity laws in the nation?  Will your organization be prepared to answer the question, “is my salary equitable?”

Analyzing and achieving equal pay can help employers enhance employee morale and productivity, while minimizing legal risks.  Join employment attorney, Heyke Kirkendall-Baker, for a roundtable discussion into Oregon’s Equal Pay Act, which will provide answers to the key questions that will help your company prepare for the new law; factors to consider; recommended changes; and communication recommendations.

Heyke will also demonstrate the new cost-effective automated tool, Parity Software, which can be utilized to perform an internal compensation analysis.
